From Apprentice to Leader
Ten years ago, Jonas Eide began his career at Stryvo as an apprentice. He earned his trade certificate as a CNC operator, a quality mark for the skills and expertise he had developed. Today, he is head of the machining department in Stryn, and he is eager to give new apprentices the same opportunities he once received.

─ Being an apprentice gives you a taste of working life and the profession itself. You get to find out if this is something you want to pursue, and for me the answer was a clear yes, Jonas says.
Jonas has always been passionate about his craft and motivated to help others succeed. As head of the machining department in Stryn, he combines hands-on experience with strong teamwork, ensuring that his team thrives.
With Nordfjordkompaniet supporting him, he has always had a solid network to lean on in the “hunt for new superpowers.” This has inspired the work environment Jonas has built in the workshop.
─ We have a fantastic apprenticeship training centre here in Stryn. Nordfjordkompaniet does an outstanding job in supporting us as a training company and the ‘super-apprentices’ we have with us, he explains.
A Workday Full of Variety
Over the years at Stryvo, Jonas has worked on many different machines and tackled countless challenges. That experience is invaluable in his leadership today.
─ I know what it’s like to stand at the machine myself, and that makes it easier to understand what my colleagues need to enjoy their work, he says, adding:
─ One day we’re making parts that will end up at the bottom of the ocean, and the next day we might produce a custom piece for a local farmer. That kind of variety gives extra motivation in everyday life.
As head of a department where practical and operational work is central, Jonas wants his employees to experience both mastery and development.
─ We’ve recently invested in several new machines, which allows us to take on exciting and complex projects. Being able to solve more challenges for our customers makes us creative and helps us build even more knowledge, he says

People and Opportunities
For Jonas, being a good leader is just as important as being a skilled professional. He highlights the workshop culture as a key reason why he enjoys his job so much:
─ I work with fantastic people! The culture we have here at Stryvo is unique, and much of that comes from the great dialogue we have with each other, he smiles before continuing:
─ I want everyone to feel good at work. That’s when we achieve great results together. At Stryvo we have short decision-making processes and a freedom that allows us to think outside the box and act quickly. That’s something I value highly.
Jonas’s journey from apprentice to leader shows what is possible when passion meets opportunity. Even though it has been nearly ten years since he was an apprentice himself, he still remembers that time clearly. That is why he values having Nordfjordkompaniet close by as he now searches for new talents:
─ I look forward to welcoming new super-apprentices in the years to come. They’ll become an important part of our team, and we’ll learn just as much from them as they will from us, he concludes
«I want everyone to feel good at work. That’s when we achieve great results together. At Stryvo we have short decision-making processes and a freedom that allows us to think outside the box and act quickly. That’s something I value highly.»
