Cflow: Groundbreaking Hatch Solutions for Land-Based Aquaculture
Andfjord Salmon and Cflow are collaborating to develop a groundbreaking land-based aquaculture facility on Andøya. To meet the project’s need for large and complex components, Cflow selected Stryvo as their partner to manufacture hatches for the facility.

In the pilot phase, the facility planned to harvest around 700 tons of salmon, but the goal for the next construction phase is to produce nearly 19,000 tons per year — with two new facilities under construction on Andøya. Stryvo was brought in to produce hatches of various sizes, as well as hatch guides and lifting mechanisms. With strong experience from the hydropower industry, Stryvo has delivered high-quality products on time and within budget. They have contributed technical expertise and maintained close dialogue throughout the process. According to Cflow, communication and collaboration with Stryvo have been critical in finding optimal solutions and ensuring the project’s success.
Background
During the pilot phase, the facility planned to harvest around 700 tons of salmon. The goal for the next phase is to produce approximately 19,000 tons annually, with two new facilities planned on Andøya. As part of this development, Stryvo was engaged to produce hatches for the facility.
«We chose Stryvo as our supplier due to delivery times and design. The project and the hatches from Stryvo are the result of close and good cooperation over time to arrive at the best solution for us and the end customer. In hindsight, we have seen that Stryvo has delivered on time, quality, and cost.»

The Solution
For the hatches in the project, Stryvo applied its expertise from the hydropower industry. Stryvo is well acquainted with the material requirements and documentation needed for such projects and could make informed assessments based on prior experience, tailoring the solution to the project.
The following products are scheduled for delivery to the aquaculture facility during 2024:
- 36 hatches measuring 2.1 x 1.85 m
- 12 hatches measuring 5.12 x 3.42 m
- Hatch guides
- Lifting mechanisms
Most of the hatch guides have already been delivered, with several embedded into the foundations. The remainder of the delivery is to be completed by the end of 2024.
The Results
According to Cflow, Stryvo has delivered on time, quality, and cost. Communication throughout the process has been especially crucial for Cflow, following multiple rounds of design changes to find the best possible design, with different material qualities evaluated along the way.
